What a clever idea.... I think you've captured the relationship between NCS Scarlet and Destiny so well.
I particularly love the last line.... "I love you" , because you don't know who says it.
For such a short story, it's very accomplished - you've got everything in that needs to be said.

Indigo, I think you protesteth rather too much - anyone who hates her as much as you say you do couldn't possibly write her with such insight and humour. I detect something of a soft spot there!

The most fun was actually not burning her (or not, take your pick), but writing from her perspective. I disliked her so much as a character that it was quite tricky at first, and I had a tendency to slip to Scarlet's POV instead. But the more I forced myself to stick to the one perspective, the more I found myself discovering a long-lost personality! Between this and 'Child of Destiny' I actually don't hate her any more - Destiny has finally become an actual character rather than a plot-filler (to me, anyway).
