Lezli, this is great!

What a clever idea.... I think you've captured the relationship between NCS Scarlet and Destiny so well.

I particularly love the last line.... "I love you" , because you don't know who says it.

For such a short story, it's very accomplished - you've got everything in that needs to be said.

Lezli, just read your story, better late than never (I've got a lot of reading to catch up on...that's what you get for going away for half-term!)

Thank you all. It's great to be back on the fanfic wagon, and I really loved writing this little piece. The fact that I got to spend a couple of days Destiny-bashing was just icing on the cake

Poor Destiny. Is it her fault she was the victim of such poor script-writing? Give the girl a break - I try to ,anyway!

Indigo, I think you protesteth rather too much - anyone who hates her as much as you say you do couldn't possibly write her with such insight and humour. I detect something of a soft spot there!

You're right, Skybase Girl - Destiny was the victim of some truly terrible script-writing and never really got a chance to redeem herself. The scenes that she wasn't exchanging cheesy lines with Scarlet were spent either moping (Instrument of Destruction, Chiller etc) or being the biggest Mary-Sue ever (Fallen Angels). I came to the conclusion that Scarlet and Black must have seen something in her.

The most fun was actually not burning her (or not, take your pick), but writing from her perspective. I disliked her so much as a character that it was quite tricky at first, and I had a tendency to slip to Scarlet's POV instead. But the more I forced myself to stick to the one perspective, the more I found myself discovering a long-lost personality! Between this and 'Child of Destiny' I actually don't hate her any more - Destiny has finally become an actual character rather than a plot-filler (to me, anyway).
