Mod note:
I feel this should probably be mentioned along with this caption. Mysteron2068 originally posted this caption on the MSN forum just 3 weeks after the death of Ed Bishop, along with a beautiful notation, reproduced below. This is the original thread, for those of you who are interested.

I wish to say to my fellow CSS members how very shocked and deeply saddened I was when I heard of the death of Ed Bishop when he passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2005. Ed was an outstanding actor, who never quite achieved the fame he deserved. Still, to millions of fans he will never be forgotten as the voice of Captain Blue in the original Captain Scarlet series, or as the no-nonsense Commander Ed Straker in all 26 episodes of Gerry Anderson's series UFO. A fellow environmentalist, like myself, Ed was a supporter of CND and the Green Party. It is ironic that he is most known for military-type roles, since in real life he was a peace-loving man who worked to leave this planet a better place than it was when he arrived....which in my opinion is the very best legacy any of us can leave. Ed was taken from us too suddenly and too soon, but this should remind us all to take every day as the gift that it is and to make the most of it.
I remember Ed even in his smallest roles, like the Space Tracker in the James Bond film "You Only Live Twice"...my favorite Bond film.
I sincerely hope that when the New Captain Scarlet DVD's are released, that they will include the 5 minute promo featuring a voice-over by Ed....his last contribution to a Anderson production. He deserves that, at the very least.
To this fan from Canada, where Ed started his career in radio and theatre so long ago, he will never be forgotten.
Sincerely,
David (Mysteron2068)
