Cloudbase's conference table

Yet another of my strange musings...

Did they ever explain how Colonel White actually gets to sit in the middle of the conference table? It's round, and there's no apparent gap anywhere.

Does it have a hinged section that opens to let him in? And is the person seated on said hinged section the "unlucky one", kind of like whomever gets to sit in the middle seat in the back of a car? It seems a little unpractical if he has to get out in a hurry.

And although it would be rather entertaining to watch, I doubt he breaks into a run to slide over the table and land in the middle.

No, they never do say, to my knowledge at least. I expect he jumps up, grabs hold of the metal chandelier-thing and swings over the table-top into his seat. OR, he presses a button at his Control Room desk and the seat is whisked away down into the bowels of Cloudbase, along secret tunnels, to rise in the middle of the Conference Table.
The final option is that he climbs over Captain Magenta, who is, as we know, always happy to be useful....

I've just studied some screen caps from 'Flight to Atlantica' and it looks to me as if there is a control panel attached to the colonel's chair - so maybe the table rises from the floor around him when he sits down and presses the button and sinks again when he is ready to leave?
If that's the case, I hope they've thought about what happened at the Safari Lodge and ensured no unsuspecting technician working on the floor below gets sliced in half by the descending table...

And hopefully, they have some sort of manual crank in case it decides to stop halfway down and he's stuck with a knee-high donut around him.
