2: I agree with Marion on this one. The Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle has a bulldozer blade.
3: T’WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS (SPECTRUM STYLE) by Valuth k'Sheyna

1: An insignia for one of the world’s armed forces bases - seen as an upside-down equilateral triangle made up of four smaller triangles (red, white, dark blue and light blue) - is used in which episode?
.....Flight to Atlantica.
You first see it in the opening sequence giving the episode’s title.
2: In which vehicle would you find Zyolitic crystals?
.....In the Maximum Security Vehicle. In it’s air-recycling unit.
I was intrigued to learn about the use of the zyolithic crystals in Thunderbird 4 so I went and checked my resource book, (Graham Bleathman’s cross-sections book) and found that Thunderbird 3 uses them as well (makes sense). However there’s no mention of them being use in Thunderbird 5 or the SPV’s life-support system or Stingray’s either. Hmm, I wonder if Brains ever had a hand in helping to designing things for Spectrum, in the later years of his life.
3: This one time author, wrote a lovely Captain Brown Christmas story. Where he is challenged to give up smoking. So who wrote it and what is the name of the story?
.....Have you got a light? By Marizel.
A lovely early Spectrum story, and it goes to show just how hard it can be to give up a habit.
Marion wrote:I ought perhaps to add that, according to the website: ‘Marizel’ is the nom de plume of two authors whose work is already on the Spectrum HQ website.
If that’s the case, then thank you to the two of them. If not then, thank you to its writer.
Points for this set: Marion: 4 all together, 2 for being the first with Q3 and another 2 for correct answers to Q1 & 2
Lt Pine: 4 points for being the first with Q1 & 2

Ha ha, Marion. Hmmm, just what your quarters would look like if you had some on Cloudbase
Lined with bookshelves filled with books - pretty much like my present quarters.
You can take this girl out of the library, but you can't take librarianship out of this girl...

1. Insignia of the World Navy - and also, apparently, of the World Navy in Joe 90 too, as I firstly found a picture of this badge in a Fanderson flyer selling the badges of the World Navy Air force and Army in Joe 90. They all are a variation of the triangles...and yes, it's Flight to Atlantica as that's the only episode featuring the World Navy from this group. I could barely see the insignia on the very blurred pic of the upside down funnel from the episode...
2. I feel as if I'm cheating here when people post, but to prove I found the answer too..It states as Andrew says, in my copy of the Haynes manual for the MSV: 'Air recycling unit using zyolithic crystals to siphon carbon dioxide from cabin.' Spectrum must have pinched the technology from International Rescue...

3. 'Have you got a light' by Marizel.

In total honesty, I only got No 2: SPV and I read that in my annual.
Wouldn't be fair to claim No 3 since Andrew did all the hard work.

1: In this episode we see the same shot, of human hand pasting something, used three times. Which one is it?
.....Operation Time.
That’s the shot I was talking about, I guess it saved them time and it works.Lt. Pine wrote:A nurses hand is passing a medical tool to a doctor.
2: Which Spectrum Vehicle would you find a bulldozer blade?
.....The Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle.
So many things built into it but we don’t see them being used.
3: This yarn is a retelling of a well-known Christmas poem, set in Cloudbase. What is it called and who did the changes?
.....T’was the Night Before Christmas. (Spectrum Style.) By Valuth
It takes skill to rephrase works, and she does it so well. Good on you Valuth.
Merry Christmas to all and may the New Year start with good things.
Thanks Carrie for your answers (both sets, there are always times when we miss things).
Points will come (I’m just too weary to work them out now).

1. Dangerous Rendezvous: Scarlet looks at the whirly optical hypnotic display while the Mysteron voice is droning on, just before he smashes it to see the high tech 21st century tape-recorder.....
2. MSV windows: Interesting, you can take your pick from : 'Armourglass' from The Haynes Manual
or a special 'heat-resistant anti-radiation lead quartz', from the 1967 annual.
3. Well, to be honest, it didn't ring any bells right away (sorry Marion!) and as I have no time to trawl through ALL the 600 odd stories, its a PASS on this question from me!
