A Captain Scarlet (Original) Challenge.
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
1: In which episode do some of the characters stay in the Maxacom motel?
…..Heart of New York
chrisbishop wrote:Although how you can consider a bank the heart of a city, I'm still wondering. You'd think the Mysterons would aim at something more symbolic - like the Statue of Liberty? Mmm... Plot bunny here...
I have to say that this whole episode has me wondering as well, like why do those robbers think that’s it a good idea to “become Mysterons” in the first place? Their fake I.D.s would likely have got them though anyway.
2: How long is a Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle?
….. 25 feet.
chrisbishop wrote:But that's not the oddest feature of the SPV! The vehicle is powered by a removable power pack, that can be used as an hoverpack! I ask you: what if that pack is removed and whoever's still in the SPV needs to make a quick getaway? Now, that's calling for trouble...
Stand-by batteries provide the necessary power to the S.P.V, when the power pack has been removed. (Stated in Graham Bleathman’s cross-sections and the vehicle profiles on the number three disk of Captain Scarlet and Mysterons, set.)
3: After being hit by a van, while riding a bike, Captain Magenta ends up riding a black horse that was not a horse in this story. What is it’s title and who wrote it?
…..A Mid-Autumn Night’s Mare. By Tiger Jackson
chrisbishop wrote:Magenta ends up riding a Pooka, in the form of a horse. You'd think that fighting the Mysterons, he would be more suspicious. AND cautious!
I totally agree. Still if he had been then the story wouldn’t be as fun to read (or probably to write). Thanks for writing it, Tiger Jackson. I hope you see this.

1: In which episode does Captain Blue visits the Auld Lang Syne distillery?
2: There are three vehicles that Spectrum use that don’t have any Spectrum markings. Which ones are they?
3: This very short story is about a mosquito, Captain Scarlet and a hand. Who wrote it and what is it called?
Bonus Question: Captain Scarlet postpones a forty-eight hour furlough in Miami to go on an assignment, in which episode?
The points so far - Colonel Chris has 4. Three for the correct answers and one for being the first one to post them. No-one picked up the bonus for posting two correct answers. We will have to see how these questions go!

Now in saying all that, here’s the answers for set four’s questions.
1: In which episodes do you see two Non-Spectrum uniforms in red and blue?
.....The Mysterons.
.....Then the same footage is also shown in Dangerous Rendezvous.
2: What aircraft does Spectrum use as a flying Maximum Security Vehicle?
.....Magnacopter.
3: In what story does Captain Scarlet fight a mouse?
.....Size doesn’t mater. By Chris Bishop.
Chris you did a brilliant job of using other parts/objects of Gerry Anderson creations in this story. I’ve never seen ‘The Secret Service’, we only shown ‘Thunderbirds’, ‘Joe 90’, ‘Stingray’ and ‘Captain Scarlet’ in this part of the world. I remember ‘The Might Atom’ episode very well, poor Lady Penelope.

Only count the first time per episode it happens, also please ignore the Mysteron threat sequences as it appears in every episode and would muck-up the answers.

I loved the way it’s written from the mosquito’s point of view. A great piece of writing.

Well I’ve been a bit under the weather for a while and that why I haven’t posted until now. Sorry about that, I know that you’ve been waiting for some answers. Well here they are:
Answers for Set Six,
1: Captain Scarlet comes to a fiery end in a S.P.V. in this episode. Which one is it?
......Fire at Rig 15
2: What Spectrum vehicle has caterpillar tracks?
......A Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle.
3: This story explores how the Mysterons might have come about and takes concepts from Egypt and Doctor Who. Giving it a very interesting story line. What story is it and who wrote it?
......The Riddle of the Osirians, by Clya Brown.
I had to choose this story. As the news that the new doctor, for the next series of Doctor Who, is going to be a woman. Was announced on the same day I posted these questions.
Answers for ‘Anniversary’ questions,
Scarlet’s question: How many times has he crash a S.P.V?
Four times. In the episodes: Winged Assassin, Avalanche, Point 783 and Fire at Rig 15. He also manages to destroy a S.P.V. in Special Assignment, but it didn’t crash.
Blue’s question: How many times do we see him in a S.P.J?
Nine times. Winged Assassin, Avalanche, Heart of New York, Point 783, Seek and Destroy, Traitor, Fire at Rig 15, Codename Europa and multiple times in Place of the Angels.
White’s question: How many times does he say, ‘Lieutenant Green, launch all Angels’?
Only twice. Seek and Destroy and The Launching. He does of course say ‘launch all Angels’ in other episodes but not beginning with Lieutenant Green. Interesting to note, Scarlet says ‘Lieutenant Green, launch all Angels’ in Treble Cross.
Green’s question: How many episodes are there where he is not seen sitting in his chair at all?
Two. Avalanche and The Inquisition.
Destiny’s question: How many times do we see her sitting in Angel One? (Counting only once per episode.) Now if I had known how many time we do see Destiny in Angel One I would have picked another question for her. Eight times on Cloudbase, The Mysterons, Avalanche, Point 783, Traitor, Treble Cross, Flight 104, Inferno and Attack on Cloudbase. Two times only seen flying Angel One, Winged Assassin and Codename Europa. Also we see her in a main role in Expo 2068 but there’s no indication that she is flying Angel One.
Ochre’s question: How many times do we see him in the Control Room?
Five times. Operation Time, Dangerous Rendezvous, Flight 104, Inferno and Flight to Atlantica.
Harmony’s question: In how many episodes do we hear her say something?
Six times The Mysterons, White as Snow, Point 783, Seek and Destroy, Renegade Rocket, and The Launching.
Magenta’s question: How many times do we see him standing by a road block?
Three time. Twice in Heart of New York and once in Codename Europa.
Melody’s question: How many times do we see her heading up to Angel Two or Three?
Five time. Special Assignment, Point 783, Traitor, Renegade Rocket and Inferno. We also see she entering one of the backup Angels in Dangerous Rendezvous.
Grey’s question: How many times do we see him away from Cloudbase? (Counting only once per episode.)
Three times. Winged Assassin, Manhunt and Shadow of Fear.
Rhapsody’s question: How many times do we see her in uniform sitting in the Amber Room?
Four times and two in the Angel’s launch lifts. The Mysterons, Winged Assassin, Spectrum Strikes Back and Place of the Angels. In the lift, Treble Cross and Seek and Destroy.
Doctor Fawn’s question: How many times to we see him in the Conference Room?
Five times. Operation Time, Fire at Rig 15, Attack on Cloudbase and twice in Flight to Atlantica. It’s also hard to work out if it’s Fawn or Ochre in ‘The Mysterons’.
Symphony’s question: How many times do we see her and Blue together?
Five times. Twice in Manhunt, once in Model Spy and twice in Attack on Cloudbase.
Black’s question: How many times do we see him shoot someone?
Three times. Seek and Destroy, Expo 2068 and Codename Europa. He also shoots at the doctor in Operation Time but doesn’t hit him.
I’ve tried to be as correct as possible but mistakes do happen.
The next set of questions (Set Seven) will be post on Monday as normal

On the side, are you lot finding these questions interesting and fun? And do you want me to continue?

But then again... he is there or not? This is a dream episode, after all...
Or is it not?
2. Four, according to the information I have. But it seems mighty big to only be able to carry four people!
3. Passages, by Caroline Smith. And I do recommand it, especially for any Captain Ochre's fan!
