MARCH 3, 2018: Missing Scene Challenge launched!

Hello everyone, and welcome to a our latest updates!

As promised two weeks ago, we have something exciting to announce all Fan Fiction writers and readers alike: the launching of a brand new year-long Challenge! This is to continue celebrate the 50 years of Captain Scarlet all through the 2018 year - and beyond!

The MISSING SCENE CHALLENGE invites you to write just that, a 'Missing Scene' story, inspired by any of the episodes from the classic 'Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons' series, or the new CGI series.

I echo Marion, Chris. So glad you’ve posted this. It’s good to have something new to focus on and it will be good to see how differently people interpret ‘missing’ scenes from the episodes. It might mean that making sense of the anomalies will be a challenge in itself, though! ;-$

I'm tempted to have a go. I sort of tackled Attack on Cloudbase in my Vengeance Syndrome story but that and the companions of Black to Mars intrigue me. I might have a go.

I'll try. On the bus home I thought about doing the astronauts who were with Black. I might revisit Vengeance Syndrome to tweak the outcome to Attack on Cloudbase (I re-read the start of it last night and my summarisation by Symphony to Colonel White was very brief. Like six lines). Right now I've got the bit between the teeth on two stories, so hesitant to get going just yet but will have to, or else lose my surge of inspiration.

I share your pain, Matt! However, I don't even have the inspiration as yet.
Besides, I have, in various stories, already covered many of the anomalies and missing scenes that intrigued or irritated me... I think I shall have to sit down and watch all the episodes again until I can find a new one... oh, the things I do for Captain Scarlet :wink:

I obviously forgot to include "Vengeance Syndrome" in the list of stories already published in that category. I'll correct that shortly, Matt.

I'm glad to see a few of you people are considering this new challenge. I might have an inspiration for at least one too, though now it's a question to find the time to write it!

Don't worry on my account, Chris. To be honest I was thinking of revisiting it in some way. Introduce a Lieutenant Sienna into the mix.

I do have something gathering on the astronaut colleagues of Black but I can't seem to find the name of the other astronaut, most sources list Lt. Dean but not the other guy.

My pain, Marion will be remedied by doing some writing. Not that I have plots for what I actually have in motion.

Hi Matt,

The other guy's name is Conway. He's the MEV Navigator.

If it can help you in the future, you can check this page, which lists all characters from the TV series, along with the puppet which was used for that character:

thanks Chris, I'll take a gander.

edit- that page answers a question I always wondered to myself, about whether the human Black puppet was the same as the Mysteron one (how closely aligned they were). With his hat on it seemed hard to compare.
