This week, the Spectrum HQ website offers you new updates.
On the MERCHANDISING side - we added new items on the RELATED INTERESTS page:
On the INDESTRUCTIBLE HEROES section: The "Highlander" movies series, have been added, as well as "Highlander: the TV Series", "Highlander: the Raven", "Highlander, the Animated TV Series", and "Highlander: The Search for Vengeance" anime movie.
On the new section GAMES (Still in Merchandising), you will find a whole line-up of "Cluedo" and "Clue" games - which we added for obvious reason! Not all the versions of the game have been added to the page, so we provided you with a link that you can follow to either Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com for other available versions.
Games and DVD are available at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk

But I am curious to know where it came from, Chris, since we previously had so little biographical information about the characters.

That's a very legitimate question. If you check the small prints at the bottom of the main NCS cast of characters page, you'll notice all the sources listed there. There's a new one, that I just added:
'The Complete Gerry Anderson - The Authorised Episode Guide'
That's the 2008 edition of the Episode Guide, and nearly all of the missing information that were added to the pages come from there, believe it or not. The rest, I've also added, after checking the other sources a little more thoroughly (for example: I totally forgot about Doctor Gold's details, found on a saved paged of the defunct website!)
If other information comes along, I'll be sure to add it as well. So if anyone found something interesting, from a source that could be checked, please tell me about it!

I have the 2006 version of "The Complete Gerry Anderson" and I didn't know there was a later version. I can see that the extra info about Dr Gold came from the original bio on the now defunct website, but I was curious as to where the other stuff came from, such as the details about Magenta, Grey, Ochre, etc and the other Angels.
If this has come from Chris Bentley's updated book, do we know if the additional information has come from original character sources ( Gerry, scriptwriters, etc) or has it come from the imagination of Mr Bentley?

So I would think this is very safe to assume that Mr. Bentley had access to official materials. He certainly has the means and the contact to get his hands on this stuff - which some of it might have been available to public at some point, but that we might have missed if we blinked!
I also have the 2003 edition of the book, which was published before the released of NCS, and then bought the 2005 edition that you have - a hard-cover book, featuring New Captain Scarlet on the dust cover, and which contains only the first half of the series. The 2008 edition features on its cover one of the beautiful Captain Scarlet painting by Ron Embleton - the one where Scarlet is threatened to be run over by a tank. It not only contains the last half of the series, and the information that was missing on the characters, but also a lot more information that you can dream on, and includes lots of productions that were not in the previous editions, such as a listing of the audio-adventures and, yes - Firestorm and Thunderbirds 2086.
I had seen the book in England on my last visit last Spring, but neglected to buy it (not enough space left in my luggage, would you believe...) but I had the opportunity to find it online on eBay and bought it right away. I recommend it to any Gerry Anderson fan. It's a must have.
