Gosh..it's not often I'm first in with a post...

I rather liked this episode in many ways..not that I don't mind a bit of stonking CGI action...but this was definitely slower-paced and all the more enjoyable for that. (Is this the female in me coming out? )
The Colonel is certainly one of the most intriguing characters in this series and it was nice to get some insight into his background. I enjoyed the restuarant scene....although I thought it odd that Spectrum's lead pilot and field agent seem to act as 'babysitters...' surely they have some security guys on Skybase???
Anyway..nice to see a female CGI character who has long hair for a change..even if it was in a plait. I thought Victoria was rendered rather nicely. SEE Denim...some girls STILL call their fathers 'Daddy'...but perhaps only in England and if they're blue-blooded....(private joke everyone..)
Scarlet and Blue in civvies...cool....
Black's gem of reply to his henchman's - 'Over my dead body...' He still has some of the best lines... Although Blue comes a close second with his laconic reply to Scarlet's question as to whether he enjoyed his sandwiches whilst waiting for them in the Hummingbird...
I even found the Colonel's little speech about - 'If you dont care about those you love then what's the point of saving the planet?' to be rather touching rather than risible.

Only one question...why does White have a Rhino in his basement...? Maybe Diana uses it to get a good parking space for shopping at Harrods?....

Yes, enjoyed this one too - definitely seeing a learning curve with respect to concepts and stories. And the personal touches were very nice - something we definitely never saw in the original.

If some dissenters here aren't won over with this story, I don't know what will to be honest...

I liked it a lot. A refreshing change of pace after the hectic action of previous episodes. I loved the scene with the guard dog and the Vampire pilot! Howling with delight you might say (sorry). Liked the way White disposed of the Mysteron agent then, just when you thought it was over, he had to roll out the way of the speeding train. Agree with Carrie about Colonel White's speech - simple, heartfelt and above all, truthful - one of the highlights of the episode for me. Lots of good little character moments too - some of which have already been touched on - but I must say how impressed I was by Black's two assistants. As with the old lady in last week's episode they were recognisably distinctive types with their own mannerisms and behaviour. The Colonel's daughter made a suitable damsel in distress as well (at first I was a bit worried she was going to be one of those stroppy, ball-breaking chicks that seem to be de rigeur in television series these days but thankfully not). On consideration I think this episode featured the best character animation I've yet seen. There was nothing that looked particularly clumsy or awkward to my eyes. And Aegis reckons the animation in the second batch is even better, eh? Wow...

i fort the episode was brilliant. although for some reason i really hated colonel white's daughter.don't ask me why but i was practically begging 4 sum one to shoot her head...meh. malevolent lil me lol. maybe she was to towny for me.

The Vampire pilot looked and sounded much too much like Scarlet, sorry, 'Paul', to be convincing.

The landscape and vehicle shots are gorgeous. The scripts are dreadful.

Yes, I agree - the Vampire pilot did look like Scarlet - at first I thought it was Scarlet, maybe working 'undercover' or something....
I did think some of the 'walking' shots were bouncy - not nearly as bad as the earlier episodes, but - unless everyone was meant to be swaggering - it was noticable.
I thought Victoria was a wimp - for her Daddy's little girl, at least. I'd have expected the colonel to ensure his daughter was capable of looking after herself. Mind you, the fact that she was loping about late-night London, with an expensive piece of jewellery about her person - which is asking for trouble, especially without even a handbag to belt an assailant with - suggests that she and 'Daddy' (for allowing her to go) need their heads examining...

I agree with you that it was a little odd that White allowed Victoria to walk home alone at night...surely Spectrum Intelligence..or Security...(or whatever they are called in this series...if at all...) would insist on more stringent precautions for senior operatives family members out in public places. (and you can't get much more senior than White..) and one would have expected White to follow them..even if he was rushing to a Spectrum emergency...
And I was a bit sceptical about him just jumping off the base in tthe Raid bike (although I guess he did leave a message for Scarlet). It seemed a little out of character compared to previous episodes, where he appears coldly logical under pressure...even to the point of ordering one angel (Harmony) to shoot another down (Destiny)...to save Skybase. Still I guess maybe it made sense when he did give his little speech to Scarlet and Blue...
And ..of course, it's quite possible he had a character transplant after the pilot... much like Harmony's hair and Ochre's gender....

I really liked this episode. Loved the shots of London and insights into Colonel White's background. Charles and Diana - geddit? Script was less clunky and showed signs of more emotion, Destiny's voice acting has improved from the wooden first appearances, though I prefer Harmony as a character.

Coolest thing was the Mysteron dog. I really like the fact they are purposely doing things with the retrometabolism which couldn't have been achieved with the first series, all the Mysteron agents with the exception of the women in Model Spy and Place of Angels where 30 something men, wheras we've had a vicious granny, and a dog in the new series.

Did anyone notice Scarlet and Blue's car had a British style number plate with a '61' year identifier (I think I saw that right) - this would indicate the car was registered after Sep 2011. It could have been an old car though!

If this series gets better in the later episodes we're in for a real treat. Still want to see more of the other Angels and Spectrum Captains though.

The dog was really creepy. That would have utterly terrified me as a child.

Ended up liking captain Blue a lot in this episode, he's getting better.

Only thing I didn't like was Victoria and her wimpy Daddy's girl thingy. Really grated with me. You'd have though girls would be a bit tougher and smarter in the future. She's supposed to be my age but I don't know any one who carries on like that.

Still, suitably great episode.

Agree with you about Victoria, a little annoying.

Anyone notice White's wife's name was Diana and his being Charles? Not to make a big thing out of it, rather ironic in its way.

Hmmm...mysteronized dog, eh? Now I wonder where might I have seen that before?

However: 'Daddy" There is Nothing on the face of this planet (or any other) that creeps me out more than hearing a grown person calling a parent Daddy or Mummy - shudders of horror! (My very own offspring were not permitted to use the terms past three years of age, for we would not answer to either. So that's a Major Personal Pet Peeve and I already wish they'd left it out, even if I might approve of the rest of it whenever I finally get to see it.)

Happy to hear we get to see more of Colonel White (though I think I also could have done without Charles and Diana as monikers) and I do wonder about this Rhino in the basement business....
