Eyelashes, as well as other small details, are a tricky matter in any scale rendition. If you don't get them just right, they REALLY stick out and you'd have been better off not using them at all. For example, it's often suggested NOT to paint the "whites" of the eyes white, because most of the time no one notices them anyway (despite what the colonists' leader at Bunker Hill is supposed to have said to his troops

A good rule of thumb is to stand the "scale" distance away from a real person, aircraft etc. and see what details you can see before you start including those details in your model. For example, an Action Man/GI Joe large figure is a foot tall, so you would stand far enough away from a person so that they appear a foot tall to you as well. Then see what you can see, if you can make out their eyelashes, what the folds in their clothes look like, and so on. You'll be surprised at what you can and can't see at that distance!
