PRIORITY ONE RAINBOW RED: New Captain Scarlet series 2 DVD
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Had to write something to say that I am quite upset to think that people may think that all involved with the project have washed there hands of it. This is SO wrong! If anything, we have had our hands washed for us. Ever since finishing NCS I for one have had no contact from anyone involved with the merchandising, promotion or DVD creation of the show. I would love to have been involved. Yes the show has had a troubled time and yes its has its weak points as well as strong ones, but I am proud to have been a part of the NCS team. It was dam hard work but with the odds stacked against us, we delivered it, and it is great to think that it does have its fans! Thanks!

As it is, I do not believe everyone - especially not the artists involved with NCS - is to blame with the way marketing (especially but not exclusively) has been handled concerning the show. I think I can safely say in behalf of the fans - a VERY small sample of which being part of this forum - are rather upset against GRANADA, the main player in all this.
The artists and technicians, those working directly on the show are blameless and did a wonderful job of producing a top-quality series. Mind you, anyone can argue there are flaws here and there, but if we make a deep-skinned analysis of any series, we also will find flaws there to. But here is not the point.
Every fans have obviously enjoyed the show, whatever degree of enjoyment it was. But the general consensus is that those in charge up high were lazy, have messed up and did not deliver to the expectations. While you and all other artists working in the show obviously did. I think you are right in saying that you 'had your hands washed for you'. That is the impression we have by watching the evidences by afar.
On behalf of every members of this site, I wish to thank you all for your hard, dedicated work - yourself, Gerry, Phil Ford, the many artists and technicians - some of which are still coming from over from time to time to give their five cents of comments - and everyone else who been involved in the creation of the show.
Chris
P.S. - The stills you provided to me recently are very popular and received a lot of visits during the last weeks. * Wouldn't it have been wonderful if material like that had been added to the extra features of the upcoming boxset?!**

**Maybe it did - as the message from Fanderson doesn't seem sure at 100% there won't be any extra...

I agree totally. For me the dvd extras is the place for all the hard work that went into creating the show to be seen. The art, design, concept models, finished models etc. Dont hold your breath about the new dvds. I cant believe for a minute that anyone got their act together enough to create an interesting extra package.
Cheers for now

I am not the greatest fan of NCS by a long way, but even I can see that a great deal of thought and skill and creative effort went into making it.
I only wish that effort had been rewarded with the promotion and support from the companies that it deserved.
I apologise to anyone who worked on the show and who was upset or offended by my remark. It was not aimed at you.

So many of us wanted the show to be a success so we could go on and improve the show, its characters and cgi. Alas this was not to be. You can see how thing improved with season two, just imagine what could have happened with a true second or third series.

No extras listed - I was hoping to see something listed for this but alas, not yet.

Absolutely fantastic.

Must go order that boxset now, but what a shame if there are no extras.

I don't get it the ncs serise was a huuuge success, so why are they doing this to the team and adderson and the fans, the spent £26.000.000 on it, they have to of dun a lot more then they have on promoting, merchedising and other stuff!!

That failure must be put down largely to the appalling decision to broadcast it when, and how, they did - and the abysmal promotion and marketing effort made on behave of the programme. It quickly gave the impression - to me at least - that ITV didn't give a toss if it did well or not. Once it became apparant that the support for the show wasn't going to be forthcoming, the merchandising side slipped as well; at least as far as the printed material made for the show was concerned.
Its a shame.

As for the DVDs, I think the DVD sales have been okay but I believe that a lack of stock in the stores has led to the shortage of the series in the UK, at least when it first came out.

I looked in the shops in my area and none of them even stocked the comic - never mind, sold out of it. I only got a copy thanks to a friend who found a supply local to where they lived.
I never saw any of the merchandise either, (although I was mostly interested in the printed material) so the impression I got was that it wasn't very widely distributed and what did get distributed wasn't in any great quantities.
NCS stuff did turn up on eBay fairly quickly....
