House of Dolls - Live Performance
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Did anyone videotape this?
Also, I mentioned this at the Fanderson Yahoo group - but does anyone think that there would be any feasability for Fanderson to produce an audio adventure CD of the House fo Dolls with the original New Series voice cast and sell this to Fanderson members? Beside the rights issue, I would think the production costs would be managable as Big Finish do all kinds fo series including Doctor Who.
I know Anderson series are more visual but this could be a way to experience not only new original NCS stories, but other Anderson series as well.
Just a wild thought.

Anyhow, more grasping at straws I guess...

That is a very interesting post and I would certainly be willing to pay for a soundtrack, especially if there is some concept art as well.
When I read the brief plotlines of the originally proposed 26 episodes it was House Of Dolls that I most wanted to see so it was very disappointing that it was replaced.
Grey Skulls was an adequate substitute but I have a jaundiced view of it because it replaced my favourite. All they needed to make House Of Dolls perfect would have been to include a CGI John Steed and particularly a CGI Emma Peel.
A CGI Emma Peel? - now there's a thought. What a woman!!

Be warned, though - the cast weren't taking it 100% seriously...
However, I can now understand why that episode was never made. The story would be OK for us big kids, but not so OK for the little kids in these over-protective times. When I was a little kid, though, my inner ghoul would have adored it.

I have to explain that one of the moderators from this forum had a tape of this performance of 'House of Dolls', and that we properly asked for permission to put it online. We didn't get that permission, for various reasons, and so in respect with Fanderson's decision - as well as those of the artists who gave that performance - we wouldn't allow any links to downloadable files to be posted on this forum.
Please, respect our decision regarding this subject.

Don't feel too bad about it, James. As far as I'm concerned, it's not a major problem.

What reasons did they give for not allowing it Chris?

How far did it actually get production wise? Script, storyboard? Some actual rendering or voice recording. (obviously not counting the live performance!) Thanks!

The main reasons given for refusal to grant us permission to post the video were copyright concerns, and the actors' agents getting sniffy at them giving an unpaid, unbooked performance (for which they weren't getting their 12.5%... did I say that out loud?)
As far as I recall, the episode got no further than the script. I don't think any recordings or animation were actually done, although there may have been some storyboards. If so, we didn't see them.
When I last heard from Fanderson on the matter, there were no plans to make the script available.

I apologise for dragging it up again after so long, but my mind was wandering the other day (I'm trying to avoid certain ep reviews), and I ended up finding the synopsis on the DVD case again.
I found the bits of footage available on YouTube, and I still think it's a shame that this has only vaguely seen the light of day.

btw, Skybase Girl - I believe it was a Phil Ford script, from what I can find out about it.
