Need space for your pictures and avatars?
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
It's a free space service for pictures of all kind, very easy to use, and you can store your pictures there to link to this forum. You only have to register and then seconds later you're on business.
Remember that hotlinking to pictures from outside sites - unless permitted by the site owner is not a very nice thing to do. You're stealing bandwidth from that site. Bandwidth that the owner has to often pay from his own pocket. Plus, if ever he becomes aware that you have hotlinked to his pictures, he might very well substitute your chosen picture to something that will not be very nice. A box with a message like "Bandwidth Thief", for example... Or other messages or pictures that you would not appreciate.
Far better to use free webspace then.

I copy the one for 'image' and paste that into my profile - right at the bottom of the page, where there are 3 options. 2 of thse are to upload, 1 is to link.
Here is the tricky part - I can never remember which one it is (apart from knowing it is NOT upload avatar from your machine) so I generally have to try both before I get my picture in... I would hazard a guess it is 'link to off-site avatar' - but don't be surprised if it isn't. :-D Just reset and use the other option.
Sometimes the picture comes out too big, so I have to go through the whole thing again anyway until it is a reasonable size.
I am sure someone more technically adept than me has an easier way, but mine does work. Eventually.

Having a look through it all, am I right in thinking that this method would just be for avatars? What I'm trying to do is to put images into my posts, should it be appropriate (eg. a screen captured image in the OCS trivia thread). Is there a way to do that (if allowed, that is)?
All this has got me thinking though, is my avatar displayed when I'm not logged in/online? I didn't go through Photobucket for that at all, but uploaded it directly from my machine. If it's not, then I'll follow your avatar advice, Marion.

p.s. I can see your Avatar while I'm writing this - 13:46 GMT.

And yes you can see the avatar when you're not online. I always upload from my computer too, just makes it easier. Not sure the exact way it works, but it does.
