Journey to the Far Side of the Sun/Doppelganger - 24 June 08

I would be even happier about this if I hadn't recently paid top dollar on Amazon US for an unused, sealed copy of the DVD produced by Image that was being sold by a rare films specialist.
Having said that, I am delighted with the Amazon disk but I have probably paid 10x what the new release will cost. Perhaps I should sell the expensive DVD before anyone else finds out about the Universal release.

In general this is a lightweight article with plenty of photos of the futuristic vehicles and equipment and some amusing, albeit sarcastic, comments.
This site looks mainly at the hardware but there are a number of references to the plot which might be regarded as 'spoilers' so be careful if you don't want to know too much of the story in advance.
This article does not cover the cast and characters but there are excellent performances by Patrick Wymark and Ian Hendry. Roy Thinnes is also superb in a cool, understated way - a real star in my opinion.
There are appearances by Ed Bishop and many others from UFO and even a cameo by Cy Grant (Lieutenant Green). Special mention should be made of Herbert Lom who plays Dr Hassler with a very agreeable warmth.
There is a "Start the Tour" link at the bottom of the first page which could easily be overlooked.

By popular demand, here is a link to the Universal Home Entertainment website on that other planet showing their new release of the "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun" DVD.

Of course, if polarity is unchanged then you should still be able to play this DVD in your Region 1 player but, if not, your house will probably be hit by a falling spacecraft!
If you see the film you will know what I am talking about.

Probably not as many lingering Crotch, Ass, and Boob shots...

Well it's very U.F.O like - I know Gerry Anderson created this film & it's not bad a bit slow in places & dull, I've got it on Region 2 DVD.
I prefer U.F.O saying that Barry Gray's Music Score from Journey To The Far Side of the Sun is Fantasic, I have got a 10 track version & a rare 27 track album which I listen to once or twice a week.
