Moonbase Alpha returning to Earth?
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Not even Fanderson has this story (yet) so I'm wondering how accurate it is.
I quite enjoyed Space:1999's first series, although the second series was far too 'monster of the week' for my liking. It would be Interesting to see how it fares as an update.

Unlike UFO (there can only be one Straker!), as much as I liked Martin Landau, none of the characters are so strong that they couldn't be 're enginerred' to be played by someone else, so a new series would probably work.
Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

I know... I heaved a sigh at "Ozzie" too...
I agree about the characters. They could all be played by just about anyone, with no detriment to our memories of the series. Frankly, anyone would be an improvement on Barbara Bain. She only had one expression - a vapid pout - and one tone of voice - a breathy drawl. To say that she phoned her performance in is an insult to phoned-in performances.
I've seen Martin Landau in many productions since. His finest moment, I think, was as Bela Lugosi in "Ed Wood" (starring Johnny Depp. If you haven't seen it, do so at the earliest opportunity. It's wonderful). So he can act, it's just that he never showed it in Space:1999. What a shame that the two leads were so dreadful in it.
