Mistakes and Inconsistencies - ALL Supermarionation
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
What mistakes or inconsistencies have you noticed, in ANY of the Supermarionation series'?
In Stingray's "The Big Gun", the same markings on the Solarstar's Missile Ejector #1 (fish), are also seen on Missile Ejector #2 (crab).
"The Big Gun" was also one of the very few episodes, that showed more than just 2 aliens at any given time (Moritimice, Korda, & the Mighty Leader).
BTW, Agent X-20, Titan and the Aquaphibians, don't count!

Also, visible strings. It's ingenious that they managed to hide them as much as they did, but this means that the scenes in which they become visible stand out more. The worst culprit that I have seen is the Thunderbirds episode "Move, and You're Dead", one shot of Alan Tracy and the two villains on the bridge is very bad.
The scale of certain things don't add up either. Thunderbird 2 is dwarfed by Fireflash in "Operation Crash Dive", and yet in "Trapped in the Sky", the Elevator cars look comparatively large next to Fireflash...even though they are obviously smaller than Thunderbird 2 since at least four of them could fit inside it's pod!

I am sure I read an explanation of this somewhere. It was something about the acceleration/deceleration necessary to go faster than light and slow down to sub-light speed would make it very difficult to accurately travel relatively short journeys. The FTL ship would shoot straight past it's intended destination. There is also speculation that an FTL drive being activated too close to a star could cause it to go nova.

In the Stingray episode "Tom Thumb Tempest", when Phones unrolls the Marineville documents, they go to a closeup of his hands pulling the paper back. If you look to the right of the screen, you can easily see the fingers of the puppeteer manipulating Phones' arms.
