The Mysterons |
29 Sept.
67 |
Set in February 2068, in the official
Chronology. However stated as
happening in September in the first audio-adventure. That would put it in
2067, while the opening of the episode reads, “Mars, 2068”. Discarding
audio-adventure completely for this chart would be an appropriate move. |

Winged Assassin |
6 Oct. 67 |
A few weeks to a month after the event in first
episode, so that logically, tests would be performed on Scarlet to prove he’s
no longer under Mysteron control.
That would also give time for the Mysterons to analyse their new
enemies a little more carefully. |

Logical to set this episode before Spectrum Strikes
back – as there is no Mysteron detector invented yet. Or Spectrum would have discovered that
Major Brooks is a Mysteron. |

We see the Mysteron gun in this episode. Logical to put it after Spectrum Strikes
Back. That this episode should be
before Crater 101 is of no consequence. |

The Trap |
10 Nov. 67 |
I’m in disagreement here. It shouldn’t be placed
after Spectrum Strikes back.
Logically, Commodore Goddard, after his Mysteronisation, would NEVER
had been able to board Cloudbase without being spotted by a Mysteron detector
– and considering Melody’s report, it’s unlikely that Spectrum would not have
tested him. This should be placed
before Spectrum Strikes Back. Perhaps
at its regular airing order. (Just
before Operation Time). |

I also have trouble with that one. It is placed after the Spectrum Strikes
Back episode, either in the recommended order, or the airing order. But there is obvious evidence that there
are Mysteron agents amongst the models, so Spectrum might have been wise to
check them out. Logically, shouldn’t
that episode be placed before Spectrum Strikes Back? |

Fire at Rig 15 |
16 Feb. 68 |
The Mysteron detector problem isn’t so much as an
issue here. To the contrary: the switch from human to Mysteron agent in
the case of Jason Smith was done swiftly and cleverly during the action – so
that Spectrum could never guess that he had became a Mysteron when he came
back from the fire. |

Flight to Atlantica |
30 April
68 |
The only episode where we could use an actual
date. 10 of July, 2067 marks the day
Spectrum’s chart has been officially signed.
This episode presents us with the first anniversary date of
Spectrum: 10 of July, 2068. |

Crater 101 |
26 Jan. 68 |
Second part of the Lunar Trilogy. There might be a
little trouble with the recommended order for that one. I know Spectrum needs time to prepare the
second lunar expedition, but doesn’t it look like they wait a little too long
here? Time IS of the issue, as the
Mysterons surely are pursuing construction on their lunar complex. It needs to be dealt swiftly. Unless the
people at Lunarville 6 are keeping a close eyes on things, to make sure
everything is still under control so far. |

Dangerous
Rendezvous |
9 Feb. 68 |
Third part of the Lunar Trilogy. On the recommended
broadcast order, it would seem that Dangerous Rendezvous is TOO CLOSE to
Crater 101. After all, the scientists
would need time to properly examine and test the diamond pulsator that
Scarlet took from the Mysteron complex on the moon. I would say that the airing order would be better for that one
– keeping a couple of episodes in between the two last parts of the Trilogy. |

Treble Cross |
23 Feb. 68 |
Still again the date 10 July 2068 is presented – in this view, the
action of this episode should be moved up right after Flight to Atlantica,
and consider that it happened on another continent, under another time
zone… (which means the celebration
for Spectrum anniversary will have to be quick). However, even taking into
account that the doctors use a ‘resurrection machine’ on him, Major
Gravener’s experienced something similar to Mammalian Diving Reflex – and it
takes cold water for that. Unless the
action takes place in the Southern hemisphere (example, Australia, but
there’s no indication of that), there isn’t that much water cold enough for
that effect to happen. So it might be
wise to ignore the date - as we know
now, it’s a fetish date for writer Tony Barwick, as it is his birthday date. If we follow the rest of this chart, the
action of this episode should take place in the Fall. |

The Launching |
2 April 68 |
My only problem with this one is that Scarlet seemed
a little too quick to count Mervin Brand dead, when he should be very aware
that Mysteron agents often seem to ‘come back from the dead’. Is it me, or it is one of the only times
it actually happens here? Maybe this
episode should come well before |
