Just Another Winter Day

He walked along the streets silently, his hands dug deep into his pockets. He ignored the laughter of the many children around him, building snowmen and having snowball fights. Ignored the brightly coloured lights decorating windows and trees in the front gardens he walked passed. Ignored the cheerful smiles of the people he walked passed, carrying bags and bags of gifts ready for wrapping.

He passed houses decorated with large and elegant trees taking up most of the available space behind the fake-snow-covered windows, without so much as turning to look. He passed shop windows displaying a multitude of offers surrounded by glittering ornaments.

He passed all this without taking any notice. It had been a long time since he’d felt any emotions. Months since he’d experienced excitement, anticipation or even joy. For Captain Black, the approaching Christmas holiday was just another winter’s day. Just another day for him to carry out his orders from the Mysterons.
